12 And one of those standing there said, “Can anyone become a prophet, no matter who his father is?” So that is the origin of the saying “Is even Saul a prophet?”
- 1 Samuel 10
Samuel had just told Saul that GOD had chosen him to be King of Israel. Samuel gave him signs that will confirm what is about to happen and that what GOD had said will come to pass. Just as Saul left Samuel, right at the very moment, GOD began to change Saul, giving him a new heart. Did this happen because Saul was willing? It should be so because GOD cannot work with doubting hearts but only with people who believe in HIM. Right at that moment the signs came to pass, giving Saul the courage and strength to take up what GOD has called him to do: be King of Israel.
But great change hasn't taken place yet until the Spirit of the Sovereign GOD took hold of Saul. It is the Spirit of GOD that enables human to do supernatural things, when the Spirit of GOD came upon Saul, it was so strong and evident that he even started to prophecy. This is how GOD accomplishes things, it is through our faith and thru His Spirit taking control of our lives. Change comes differently for everyone, it doesn't have to be abrupt as Saul's experience was, it could be gradual for some. But when GOD choses to work in us, it because we have opened up our hearts to HIM by believing and drawing closer to Him.
