12 Anyone who builds on that foundation may use a variety of materials—gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw. 13 But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value. 14 If the work survives, that builder will receive a reward. 15 But if the work is burned up, the builder will suffer great loss. The builder will be saved, but like someone barely escaping through a wall of flames.
- 1 Corinthians 3
Paul talks about Faith like it was a construction of a House. He laid the foundation not because he is clever or the wisest but because GOD has chosen him to do so. He understands that it is not his own efforts that made him a success but because of the grace that GOD has placed in his life to fulfill his calling. The foundation of the house is Jesus Christ. Anyone can build on that foundation, people live their lives through him but everyone uses their own building material. Some will only use what is not durable because it is not as costly as those that are truly build to last.
But judgement day will come like a natural disaster, like a fire burning up a house, GOD sends the fire to test the purity of our hearts and the faith we have in Him. Depending on how we have build our hearts in him is how the house will stand after the trial. Are our hearts truly surrendered to Him? Did we do everything in our lives in faith and with the right motive to please GOD? This is how each ones work will be tested and will rewarded according to the Father. Let us build up our lives for HIM being aware constantly that one day He be the only One that matters, nothing else will.
