Love and the its beginings

The voice of the man I love! Here he comes,
bounding over the mountains, skipping over the hills!

My darling is like a gazelle or young stag.
There he is, standing outside our wall,
looking in through the windows,
peering in through the lattice.
My darling speaks; he is saying to me,
“Get up, my love! My beauty! Come away!

- Song of Solomon 2:8-10

Love, it does many things to a person. The world calls it falling in love, love changes a person. My mother once taught me that love either breaks you or it makes you. Breaks you into what? Love can break your heart, it can also break your life if love is not centered on where it should belong. Where does it belong? It belongs to the One who is love, GOD. This kind of Love can make you a better person, more efficient, more responsible and everything good. You will know when it is the right kind of love, when you grow into a mature person. But love can break you when it is not centered on GOD. It is a command by our Creator to first of all, love HIM with all our hearts, soul, mind and strength. This is where our greatest love should be, in GOD. Why? Because GOD is a perfect being and HE is always good and this is what He says we should first put our love to, to HIM. There is no reason why we should hold back our love for GOD, we should pour out all our love to GOD! Second HE commands that we love people as we love ourselves. Now this is the next step we are able to do when do the first step, loving GOD first.

GOD's love for us and our love for HIM can be compared to the lovers that Shlomo wrote about in his poetry called the Song of Solomon. It is as intimate, as strong, as passionate as when a husband loves his wife and vice versa. It is exciting as hearing the slightest sound of your lover's voice and anticipating him/her coming to you. Agape love is as wonderful, as adorable, as lovely, as graceful as a deer running through the meadows and looking to you through the windows of your house. Of course it's hard to imagine this at this millenial age where most of us live in big Cities that do not have meadows how much more a deer. But just try to picture this serene event, GOD's love is as beautiful as the voice of your lover (boyfriend/girlfriend) calling to you "My Beauty, come away with me!" Whatever fantasies you have about an endearment of your lover calling you, this is how GOD calls you, this is how HE loves you even more than you could ever truly understand. Remember, you can't truly and fully love yourself and someone else unless you love the perfect Being, the first person where love should be whose name is Love Himself. GOD is where it all began.
