17 The high priest and his officials, who were Sadducees, were filled with jealousy. 18 They arrested the apostles and put them in the public jail. 19 But an angel of the Lord came at night, opened the gates of the jail, and brought them out. Then he told them, 20 “Go to the Temple and give the people this message of life!”
21 So at daybreak the apostles entered the Temple, as they were told, and immediately began teaching.
- Acts 5
Have we ever been in a situation worse than what these apostles have ever went through in their lifetime? Being imprisoned without a crime. When we focus on our life's troubles, we seem to think we have the worse problems in the world but truth be told, we have not even experienced the worst than these men has ever experienced.
It's only natural to wish for death when some of us who are weaker can't find the strength to carry on. It's only natural to drown in our hopelessness when we can't see the light or the point of why trouble is ganging up on us. But keep your eyes up and hope on the Unfailing ONE because like these apostles we might find our miracle in the dark of the night, in the unfortunate prison cell, in the depths of our despair, GOD will send angels freeing us from our desperation and misery. And when we have experienced HIS salvation, HIS heroic ways of rescuing us from that dark cloud, we become even more empowered to do what HE has called us to do.
But without that dark experience and the saving power of GOD revealed to us, we would never be empowered to do even more than what we could have ever done before if we had not gone through that road less traveled. So if you're still under that dark tunnel, be still my friend, help is on the way. There is no pain without a purpose, no despair without a reason.
