Scripture: 1 Kings 22, Romans 1
Proverbs 29:1 A man who hardens his neck after much reproof Will suddenly be broken beyond remedy.
Observation:
1 Kings 22 is about King Ahab of Samaria and King Jehoshaphat king of Judah. Story goes on to say that this two kings was inquiring of GOD of their plans to make war against the King of Syria. King Ahab inquires from his 400 false prophets and King Jehoshaphat asks for a true prophet of GOD. Their conversation goes on in 1 Kings 22: 7 Jehoshaphat said, Is there not another prophet of the Lord here whom we may ask?8 [Ahab] king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah son of Imlah, by whom we may inquire of the Lord, but I hate him, for he never prophesies good for me, but evil. Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say that.
King Ahab never received anything good from this true prophet of GOD Micaiah, why? Because GOD has been rebuking Ahab, warning him but he refuses to believe this prophet of GOD because he does not want to repent and change his ways. King Ahab's wife was Jezebel, and she was a Queen that controlled his kingdom as she controlled her husband Ahab. She was in her natural being a witch. GOD was displeased with Ahab's ways and especially of his wife but GOD had been faithfully warning Ahab about his destiny so that somehow Ahab would repent and change his ways. But Ahab lusted after his power, his comfort, his evil wife, that even at this time he refused to listen to GOD's warning. Ahab listened to the lying voices of the false prophets to feel good about himself than to listen to the true voice of GOD spoken of by the prophet Micaiah.
The story unfolded just as GOD had warned him many times. He will not only lose the battle but die a tragic death where dogs licked his blood. There are people raised up to overcome and people destined for destruction. Of course, GOD doesn't want any of his created beings destroyed in such a way that is why HE is always faithful to warn even the most calloused of hearts that He is going to punish the wicked. But when wickedness takes hold of a man, a man begins to be hard headed and calloused in his heart that he will not feel any guilt of sinning anymore. Such a man's life will be broken beyond repair.
Application:
Are you going to be a man/woman whose destiny is to overcome or to be destroyed because of evil? You have a choice today. Everyday may seem like just another day but each day you live, is a gift of GOD giving you another chance to change your ways and live for HIM. I pray that when you cannot chose GOD in your life, that in death, you will make a choice to accept GOD because even if you will not give up your life for GOD, GOD can still save your soul on your dying day if you accept the gift of GOD's salvation by receiving JESUS CHRIST as your savior.
Prayer:
If GOD has been warning you of the consequences of your sins, repent! Repent now, Repent today and change your ways because GOD's chance can only be for a time and that time will soon end. Do not wait for it to be too late. All things even your life will come to an end. I pray that you will chose GOD not just in death but in your life, I hope your choice will be to live for GOD for it is the only way to truly live. Do not be like Ahab who was broken beyond repair.
