Complete Promise - April 30, 2014

Scripture: Genesis 16-19

1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am El-Shaddai—‘God Almighty.’ Serve me faithfully and live a blameless life. 2 I will make a covenant with you, by which I will guarantee to give you countless descendants.”
Instead, you will be called Abraham,[a] for you will be the father of many nations.6 I will make you extremely fruitful. Your descendants will become many nations, and kings will be among them!
7 “I will confirm my covenant with you and your descendants[b] after you, from generation to generation. This is the everlasting covenant: I will always be your God and the God of your descendants after you. 8 And I will give the entire land of Canaan, where you now live as a foreigner, to you and your descendants. It will be their possession forever, and I will be their God.” - Genesis 17

Messsage:
The complete Promise of GOD is the fulfillment of His word.

Observation/Promise:
GOD is a merciful GOD. At this time, Abraham had already laid with Sarah's servant girl Hagar to fulfill the promise that GOD gave to them which is to have a son. But this is not what GOD said, it is through Sarah that Abraham will have a son not Hagar. Inspite of Abraham's sin, GOD comes to Abraham and tells Him to serve Him and be Holy. GOD knows we are not holy on our own but GOD wants us to be Holy by obeying HIS covenant and so His promise comes with a command we ought to follow. Our responsibility is to obey the terms of His covenant.

Application/Command:
GOD is faithful and when He gives us a promise it is always complete. It is complete with giving us all we need to be successful in following GOD. GOD has provided His son Yeshua for us as a sacrifice and His assurance of the promise. We cannot receive the promises of GOD if we do not do our part in the covenant of GOD. Our responsibility is to obey. And we are not perfect just as Abraham was, but when we always cling to GOD, never turning back from Him, He will always be there to save us and equip us so that we can have the victory for the fulfillment of His promise.
