11 While Zechariah was in the sanctuary, an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing to the right of the incense altar. 12 Zechariah was shaken and overwhelmed with fear when he saw him. 13 But the angel said, “Don’t be afraid, Zechariah! God has heard your prayer. Your wife, Elizabeth, will give you a son, and you are to name him John. 14 You will have great joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth, 15 for he will be great in the eyes of the Lord. He must never touch wine or other alcoholic drinks. He will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even before his birth. 16 And he will turn many Israelites to the Lord their God. 17 He will be a man with the spirit and power of Elijah. He will prepare the people for the coming of the Lord. He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and he will cause those who are rebellious to accept the wisdom of the godly.”

Many devoted and faithful followers of GOD are going through what Zechariah and Elizabeth are going through. They are faithful servants of GOD, yet the one thing that any couple would want was to have a family they could not have because Elizabeth could not bear a child. They would have felt discouraged with their dilemma and they could have just lost faith in their GOD and rebelled against HIM. But patiently they waited on GOD, I bet they did not ask anymore to have a son since both of them were very old and that made it even more hard to conceive a child.
But one day, just like the many days Zechariah was in GOD's temple, faithfully doing what GOD had called Him to do. And suddenly! GOD shows up to Him by sending an Angel saying GOD has hear your prayer! Are you praying for a long time now for something that seems impossible and it feels like GOD may have already forgotten your prayers? Do not lose hope. For GOD has never forgotten you or the prayers of your heart. HE is just waiting for the right time to give it because HIS time is perfect causing HIM to be glorified when HE answers the impossible prayers of your heart. When HE answers, it will be a bang! Awesome and Amazing as HE is and that is how we should pray, joyfully expecting in faith.
