8 “‘But the bad figs are too rotten to eat.’ So this is what the Lord says: ‘Zedekiah king of Judah, his officers, and all the people from Jerusalem who are left alive, even those who live in Egypt, will be like those rotten figs.

God uses figures of speech to describe what He wants to relay. Even in the old testament HE has used figs to illustrate two different kinds of people. Good figs represent the people being exiled, but they are not exiled without GOD's knowledge. They are being sent by GOD to be exiled to the Babylonians. Being exiled from a country could be a bad thing for most people because everyone wants to be at home. But being exiled could be something very good especially when it is GOD's doing. Since it is the LORD's doing the LORD Himself will watch over and care for them and then bring them back to their homeland.
Nobody wants to be far from their homeland and to where they have been raised up to know everything they know now. But most of the time, comfort hinders us from seeking GOD because we are already comfortable. GOD has promised to the ones HE is sending away that HE will build them up and plant them. GOD has promised that they will have hearts that recognize Him as their LORD and that they will truly belong to GOD because they will fully love and follow GOD with their whole hearts. But the bad figs are those that are rotten. You know spoiled and rotten, whose always used to having everything without any effort. Who don't care what GOD thinks because they don't need anything anymore. So consider this if you are far from the comforts of home, GOD is doing something in you to build you up. It is not a punishment to suffer for a while because GOD wants to grant His greater blessings, on earth and in eternity, to those whose hearts are fully committed to HIM and truly HIS.
