Prevailing Purpose of GOD

1 One day when Samson was in Timnah, one of the Philistine women caught his eye. 2 When he returned home, he told his father and mother, “A young Philistine woman in Timnah caught my eye. I want to marry her. Get her for me.”
3 His father and mother objected. “Isn’t there even one woman in our tribe or among all the Israelites you could marry?” they asked. “Why must you go to the pagan Philistines to find a wife?”
But Samson told his father, “Get her for me! She looks good to me.”4 His father and mother didn’t realize the Lord was at work in this, creating an opportunity to work against the Philistines, who ruled over Israel at that time.
- Judges 14:1-4

Talk about falling in love with wrong person. This story is a total disaster based on human judgment. But the events that took place in this story was purposefully planned and underatken by GOD according to HIS will. Samson was a special man, GOD had already made known to his parents that he was going to be an extraordinary person to be used by GOD mightily someday. His parents must have thought that he was invicible and almost infalliable that when he told them he has chosen a wife, they right away succumb to his demands to get her for him as a wife.

Truth was, jews at that time were not allowed to intermarry with non-jews but because his parents always thought that Samson was special, they let him do as he pleased. But even this mistake was part of GOD's plan for GOD had wanted to Samson to be angry with the Philistines so that he could fight against them and win. Samson's story may have been sad but GOD's purpose prevailed in the life of Samson where he was used to set Israel free from the Philistine's oppression by destroying the enemy of Israel.
