Don’t turn away from me, or I will die.
8 Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting you.
Show me where to walk, for I give myself to you.
9 Rescue me from my enemies, Lord; I run to you to hide me.
10 Teach me to do your will, for you are my God.
May your gracious Spirit lead me forward on a firm footing.
11 For the glory of your name, O Lord, preserve my life.
Because of your faithfulness, bring me out of this distress.
Because of your faithfulness, bring me out of this distress.
- Psalm 143:7-11
Have you ever felt like David did? Depressed and stressed? There are days when we go through very tough times. How do we ever get through such hard times? David wrote about what he felt through a poem or psalm and always referred to GOD in all seasons of his life, whether good or bad, happy or sad. Not of all of us can write like David but we can all come to GOD just as David did, because even though David is King, GOD cares and listens to all of HIS creatures and created beings. When we are down in the dumps, suffering from depression, we can't just go to the clinic and take medications to deal with our sadness all the time, all the more we have to cling to GOD, in prayers, through HIS word, in our thoughts. Only GOD understands and knows every detail about our deepest fears, worries and sadness. Only GOD cares about what we feel or think. The best medication for depression and sadness is only our Creator.
When we pour our hearts to GOD, though we cannot see HIM, HE is there. That is why faith is needed when we come to GOD because we have to believe what our eyes can't see what only our hearts can feel. HE will make Himself known to us in HIS own special ways. HE waits for us to come to HIM, HE is a faithful and loving Father. Unlike human earthly fathers, GOD does not lost a blink of sleep, HE hears us all the time. When we cry out to HIM, immediately HE is there. When we can't utter words found in the depth of our hearts it helps to read GOD's word especially the Psalms of David because it expresses a heart's deepest cries, without any mask or pretention. We understand that David had gone through what we went through and even worse. His depression was not biological or scientific, he had a nation to take care of and his enemies were found left and right. So don't you feel that you are ever alone. Many in this world are going the same thing like you. Find comfort in GOD, His word, and most of all in His love.
