Ancestral Curses

For this is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: I was determined to punish you when your ancestors angered me, and I did not change my mind, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. 15 But now I am determined to bless Jerusalem and the people of Judah. So don’t be afraid. 16 But this is what you must do: Tell the truth to each other. Render verdicts in your courts that are just and that lead to peace. 17 Don’t scheme against each other. Stop your love of telling lies that you swear are the truth. I hate all these things, says the Lord.
- Zecharaiah 8: 14-17

Ancestral curses are real punishments that people inherit because of the sins that our parents, grand parents or ancestors has committed against GOD. We usually do not know we are cursed until our spiritual eyes are opened to these things. Everyone has ancestral curses because everyone has sinned, nobody in this world is ever perfect. But the way only to get out of those curses is to repent of our sins and whatever ancestral sins there is to GOD and to denounce them. If we have angered GOD, then it is only GOD that can set us free from those curses. Ancestral curse is hard to see unless the effects are being made evident, and somehow we need to trace back what has happened to our forefathers and understand now what's going on with us in our lives. GOD is not happy to see us cursed and wants to rid us out of those curses.

If we turn our face back to GOD, and plead for HIS mercy, HE will certainly hear from Heaven and heal us, deliver us from any curse and bless us. Instead of a curse, when we win the heart of GOD, we will receive HIS blessing. It's easy to see how GOD would rather want to bless us than leave us to a curse. And in order for GOD's blessing to stand and the curse to never take effect, GOD commands us to tell the truth at all times, to execute justice, to not plot against each other and to stop telling lies. These are the things that GOD has emphasized to reverse the curse. In order for us to overcome, we need to heed and obey these Truth commandments. The truth is not always easy, but it will save us from vulneribility of being cursed once again.
